Each person has his or her own story to tell and their own reason for wanting to include one of our Golden Retrievers in their lives. We have had the privilege of meeting the most wonderful people while raising Goldens. We consider ourselves truly blessed by knowing all of you. Our lives are fuller and more complete because you became a part of it!
We love getting emails and letters from you telling us how you and your Goldens are doing.
Here are some letters, emails and photos from our North Star Golden Retriever- extended family.
These wonderful emails and letters have been posted just as we received them. We have changed nothing on them except for the omission of any personal information.
"...iccckkk! I got kissed by a girl..." - Bella & her fan club
Susan, I'm sending a few pictures of now 10-week-old Bella. She's absolutely adorable and we've all fallen in love with her. She's such a calm, sweet little girl who's just now starting to get into some mischief! Thanks for your all your help and advice in choosing the perfect puppy for our family. It's rare to find someone who cares as much as you do about both the puppies and their new people. We'll send more soon.

"Mr. Bone, prepare to disappear."
More pictures of Luke, as promised... Poor little guy had his surgery on Monday (neutered)...they needed three people to hold him down to sedate him, apparently he was trying to lick all of their faces. He continues to stop traffic wherever we go.

Luke: "You mean I'm not as small as a Yorkie..???"
Luke is absolutely amazing!. He is a stubborn as a mule...but he is sweet and gentle and extremely loving. He thinks that he is a lap dog and loves to be held and cuddled with...My daughter Maggie holds him like a toddler in her arms...even at 60 pounds. Everywhere we take him he literally stops traffic. Everyone comments on his beautiful head and his fantastic color. He absolutely hates to be left alone...so it's a good thing that we can take him to work! Luke is a chewer, unlike our Sandy, but he only chews his things...can't hardly keep a toy...he usually tears it apart instantly...including his bed...we're working on that aspect! I am attaching a few photos, but have more at work to send soon...

"Finally! I have my Finnley..."
Hey Susan, I wanted to email you and tell you how much I love my sweet Finnley girl! When I first saw her at the airport I knew she was going to be perfect. She began sleeping out of her crate when she was about 3 1/2 months old and never chewed up anything more than a piece of paper. She can be trusted to be alone for long hours and never has to be kenneled. She had very few accidents in the house, which I credit you and your family for. She is so amazing! She is incredibly smart and loves everyone and every dog she meets. She listens wonderfully well and knows how to sit and stay. Her temperament is perfect, she's very relaxed and likes to just hang out and snooze but when I go hiking and walking she enthusiastically comes along!......

Thank you for my sweet baby...
....I can't begin to thank you for your thoroughness and honesty as a breeder. I will never buy a Golden from any other breeder but Northstar Goldens. Thank you for providing me with a best friend that is not only a wonderful dog but a loving companion who makes my day everytime I open the door to my house. I have attatched some photos of her. Thank you Susan,

Baby Blossom
Hi Susan, I just wanted to write you a quick note to let you know "Red Girl" arrived safely. She is doing very well. Owen had the honor of naming her...we will be calling her Blossom! She did surprisingly well last night in her crate -- she only cried for an hour or so and then fell to sleep -- she awoke at 5am...no accidents or cries during the night! We had a lot of fun with her today. We are all bonding well. Owen said, "Mom, I love her so much I am afraid my heart is going to burst!" We will send some nice pictures of her and let you know how she is doing in the coming weeks and months. For now, her are some "quick" snapshots from today! Warmest regards,

Marley "the son of Harley" - helping out with the dishes
Hi Susan- I've been wanting to send you a quick update on Marley, but life is just so busy with the holidays, girls and new puppy! I'm hoping that you won't have any trouble opening the attached pictures, they are a miscellaneous bunch from the past couple of months. Marley "the son of Harley", is now 28 lbs. and trys to eat everything! He is alot of fun but has a little mischievous personality, which keeps us on our toes. He climbs into the dishwasher every chance he gets to "prewash" the dishes, chews the furniture legs, steals the girls PB & J sandwiches and jumps over the back of the sofa --- its great (most of the time). He is a very smart dog and it is becoming much easier to work with him as far as discipline. He now sits, shakes, comes and we almost have rolling over mastered. I bought the furniture gel that is supposed to deter him from chewing, but Marley likes the taste and licks it off! He is something else. We all love him so much and would like to thank you for allowing our family to adopt Marley. He adds so much excitement to the house! I love getting him out of his crate in the morning, he just wags his tail and wants his belly rubbed. He has a bit of a stubborn side but most of the time we find it humorous. It is so neat to be learning his personality. He is great with the girls. Marley and our cat have not become friends yet. Marley wants too but the cat runs in the other direction for fear that Marley will pounce on him. He loves the snow and likes to go hiking on the little mountain out back with my husband. I could just go on and on......but it's past my bedtime so please stay in touch and let me know if you have any trouble viewing the attached pictures. Stacey

Susan, We are enjoying our newest family member immensely. He is learning every day, and managed the road trip home very well. He's just what we hoped for. I'm the guy who was with Lorissa when she picked him up last week. It was certainly a pleasure meeting you. I'll be sending more pics if that's okay with you.

Luke
Susan,
Luke is doing great! He weighed 21.7 pounds last Monday at the Vet's...probably 25 by now. The Doc said that he was perfect in every way...couldn't get over his beautiful coloring. We have been taking him to work with us every day (Golf Club) and people are very impressed with how calm he is. He has only had two accidents in a month, so the house training you started with him really took nicely, and has been a breeze for us.
Here are a few pictures of the growing boy.

Teddie & Maddie- brothers for life!
Susan,
Just an update on our two sweet Golden Retrievers. Dan and I ended up with two of your beautiful dogs. Harleys and Shadows litter, May 2008.We started with one and two days later had to go back for the second. The first one we got is Shadows Sweet Little Charmer Maddox (Maddie). He is the protector, watchdog over everyone and everything. He is so lovable but fights and plays so hard. Maddie is a sleep on my foot as I am e-mail you.He is built like his Momma, petite and lean. And then we picked up Harleys Big Boy Ted D. Bear (Teddie). He his beautiful and looks just like Harley. Teddie is very calm and easy. A Teddy Bear he is! He loves balls, we often times will find him a sleep with a ball or two in his mouth. Teddie will have one ball in his mouth and be playing soccer with a second ball.He will bat the ball around for hours with his big paws. The two play so hard together and enjoy each other.
We are so very happy with the beautiful dogs. They make coming home so much fun. We have included some pictures and will keep you posted on our sweet boys. The dogs by the water dish was the first day they were back together. The other pictures were not staged. We just found them together on the couch a sleep a few days before Christmas. Teddie is on the right Maddie on the left.
We hope you are doing well we would love to stop by some day and see the progress you have made on your home and kennels. Thank you again for such wonderful dogs.

Bandit
Hi Susan:
We had an uneventful trip home with Navy. He just acted as if he thought, ”It’s about time you came to get me. What took you so long?” He strode into the house as if he had lived there all his life, and now the whole place is his own “kingdom.” He is never very far from somebody in the family. He is very happy and so-o-o-o loveable. We weighed him yesterday, and he weighs 15 pounds. We didn’t weigh him when him first arrived. We got him the same food that you recommended.
It took us a long time and much observation, discussion, and thought, but we finally decided to name him “Bandit.” Unofficially, it usually comes out “Bandi” for short and affection.
We took the two attached photos of him today for your album.

Look! I can catch snowflakes with my mouth....
Hi Susan, I am so glad I found you... It was so nice to talk to you, too. It is nice to know someone I trust "has me covered." Watch these little ones closely, as I know you are, and see what sweet little baby will fit into my household as well as with Jake. I look forward to holding that sweet, fat, little baby boy and hearing the puppy grunts... as well as that sweet smell only a puppy has. Thank you for being you. Lorissa and Jake

Solomon- The King
Hi Susan, Just a quick update on the puppy. We named him Solomon. Our Springer is named Samson, so it seemed to fit. He is also beautiful enough for name of a King. He is a love, and such a good boy. Both dogs are enjoying each other immensely. We already have him enrolled in puppy training class. Some pictures are attached. Merry Christmas, Shannon

Rocky
Hello Susan, I am Andrew's mother and he is here visiting with his pup for the week. I just want to say that this is the sweetest and most precious pup. He is just the best boy and has already brought so much joy to this house in the two days he's been here. It's going to be hard letting him go back home with Andrew. Andrew has said nothing but good things about you and I just want to let you know my son is very lucky to have found this pup (Rocky is the name now) and he is getting nothing but HUGE amounts of love and attention. Hope you had a good holiday and thank you so much! Christine P.S. Oh Yes, by all means, please post my testimonial. I was looking at your site with Andy and it said that Rocky had one little girl left. I was very close to purchasing my own pup. Andy will be here in the U.S. for maybe 6 mos or so, when he is on deployment we get to babysit the pup, how exciting for us!! I never thought this little guy would touch me as he did. I've enclosed a picture that I took of him on Saturday. I am a photographer and we had our first of many puppy portrait sessions, what a blast! Have a Wonderful New Year and it was great hearing from you! Christine

Abby
Hey Susan, Good to hear from you, my email was down for a couple of weeks. Well after two and a half weeks I finally decided on a name......Abby. Our ride home was uneventful, she rode on a pillow on the middle of the console in the Jeep. She is quite the intelligent girl. She does "bring" her baby to me on command and she is comletely fearless ! She does not particulary like the day kennel but she now recognizes the work morning routine and reluctantly but dutifully goes in with a little proding. There were two days last week when I was out in the field and did not come home for lunch, she was very upset with me those two days. Both evenings she was especially bite-e and growl-e towards me. She got her second round of shots a couple of weeks ago, and will get the third on spet 5th. As you suggested, the vet cautioned against exposure to adult dogs and suggested walking her where there is not any poop from other dogs. He said at 16 weeks she should be fine, but to still be cautious. We went on our first "big girl" walk in the Henry Mountains yesterday (about a mile) Abby was tireless. She comes to my pillow in the morning and plops her head next to mine to wake me up so she can go "tinkle/poop" and EAT . I will keep you posted Susan. Thank you so much for bringing this little girl into my life. Regards,
- Justin, Lake Powell, Utah
Josie
Hi Susan, I can't beleive our puppy Josie is already a year old. I have meant to send you an e-mail and pictures so many times. My son and I bought the first of the puppies. We had a little party for Josie on Tuesday to celebrate her birthday. I must admit that this was the first doggie party we have had, and we have had several dogs. Josie is one-of-a-kind. I know it sounds corny, but from the minute we brought her home, she had a special place in our hearts. She is the most loving, tender dog I know. We have a 5-year old golden retriever/border collie mix and they are the best of friends. Here are a couple of pictures from the past year. I hope all is well with you, your family and your dogs. Sincerely,
- Sherri, Salt Lake City, Utah
Ziggy
Hi Susan, Ziggy is getting really big. He has so much character. He still thinks he is a lap dog, he can never get close enough. He love to give hugs to everyone. He is also very spoiled (we may have spoiled him too much though). Him and the kids just play all day long We still have trouble with the getting into the garbage and chewing on the kids toys but he is getting better. He still has the little blanket that you sent home with him. He loves it and carries it really gently in his mouth he treats it like a child and their blankie. Its the only thing he hasn’t chewed up. It is the cutest thing, we call it his blankie. Ever since we have brought the baby home everytime she cries he comes running to the rescue. We love him so much and he is very healthy. Here are pics.

Kandi
Susan: Attached are some photos of our puppy. We named her Kandi because of her butterscotch color. She is a real sweetie and she has made our home feel complete again. She is a very energetic puppy that herds the cats and mauls everyone and everything in sight. It will be good to get her through the teething stage! Thank you for our baby girl. We will send more pictures as she grows. Update: She weighs about 65 lb. now and is full of puppy energy. She likes to go for walks, play fetch, go camping and herd the cats. And she gets very excited about going for a ride. She also likes to dig in the yard, pull up sod and chew sticks. She is intellegent and knows sit, stay, fetch, drop, no and down already. She is learning hand signals for sit and directional gestures. I am going to have her out after birds this fall to see how she does. We are happy with her and she has filled a big empty spot in our hearts. Have a good evening,

Chesney
Hi Susan (and family!) I want to thank you for everything you did to make Christmas special for Klay. He is so excited for the day we get to pick up the puppies. We are trying to get ready and we were wondering what kind of food you are feeding them and we also wondered if it isn't too much bother, if you could e-mail us some current pictures. We are just wondering how big they are by now. Thanks again for everything, we are looking so forward to January 25th.

Jerico
Hey Susan, Sorry me nor Alex have emailed you! We decided to name him Jerico (dont remember if we told you that when we picked him up or not). He's about as big as Alexs collie now! He loves playing with her! They actually will play tug-of-war together with a rope! Its so adorable. I try to get good pictures of them playing but they move around a lot Lol. We take him essentially everywhere. He's been on hikes, camping, shooting, just driving around, he loves going for rides in the truck. He's got his own bed in the backseat Lol! He also had a blast watching fireworks with us over the 4th of July. One day we took him to the pet store with us and he actually picked out a stuffed animal duck that sqeaks right off the hanger! He never lets it out of his sight! I hope you can pull up the pics I sent you because then you can see that he even sleeps with his duck too! He still carries around his blue blanket that you sent home with him. It makes me sad because he will sit with it and whine a bit. He misses his mommy. He's so funny when he tries to growl and bark too! The first time he growled he got this confused look on his face like, 'Did that come out of me?'. He an explorer. His coat is darkening quite a bit too so now he goes from a soft light yellow on his belly and legs up to a pretty honey color on his shoulders and back. His fur is getting long too! The little kids love to play with him! Whenever they are here they play fetch, tug-of war and tag. Thank You so so much Susan! We all love him to death and couldn't ask for a better member of our family!

Maggie
Susan, Maggie is doing good. I've been trying to find her some pheasants but so far no luck. She is about to graduate her first training class next tuesday and she retrieves the paper from our paperbox every morning. So far the only 2 casualties have been 2 young maples in our back yard both 1/2 stripped of bark for 3 feet up the trunk... were trying to save them but we'll see. That has been really the only thing she has damaged since we got her. She is quite a princess in this household. All is well and we'll send you some more toward xmas.
